I have noticed that some people’s author interview posts include questions relevant to the particular author or book, which seems to yield a more authentic and interesting discussion. Can someone offer advice on how best to do this? Since we send the Author Interview Form link to all authors, how can we include custom questions for each book?
Also, in order to formulate unique interview questions in the first place, it seems it would be necessary to read the book in full before contacting the author. Is this recommended?
During the One-Month Challenge (OMC), we prescribe the author interview form to demonstrate how you can reduce your workload and streamline the process. Once you successfully complete the OMC, you are welcome to operate your site as you wish. The author interviews you referred to may have been individually created for that author/book and sent by email. We are not tracking each piece of content reviewers create.
We recommend sending an interview form before reading the book to give the author time to complete the form and send it back. Often, reviewers will tell authors that they don’t start their review process until the author completes the form. It’s not uncommon for an author to fail to complete the form, esp if you have already read/reviewed the book.
I hope that helps,
